Doing anything that is counter productive does not help you to reach your goals. One thing that can be counter productive is thinking that you need to have a sparse amount of calories in order to be successful. The reason many plans do not work in the long run Is because they treat everyone the same as if one size fits all. It clearly does not. Even with calories. How active are you? Are you a person who eats a big breakfast or do you like to eat meals later on in the day? Do carbs help you or you avoid them? You truly need to find out what works for you and stick with it. Calorie counting is pretty much the best way to keep tabs on your daily intake.
